A recipe is only as good as the finished product you take out of the oven. So as you craft yours, the answers to two questions should be at the front of your attention.

1. What will people experience after purchasing your offer?

2. What needs to happen for you to deliver that experience to them?

The first question will lead you to the finished product or service that you offer to your customers. The second will help you decide what recipe to choose and ensure that you have the ingredients you need to make it successful.

Tanner’s primary ingredients were answers to cruise questions in the form of blog posts. Once he had the structure set up, all he had to do was write better and more useful posts, all the while optimizing his site to compete more effectively in search results.

In his case, the answers to the two questions above came naturally: people will receive comprehensive (yet easily accessible) information about what to expect on their vacation. Their lives will be improved because they can plan better and feel more confident prior to departure.

The great thing about Tanner’s hustle was that once he mastered his process, it became much easier to repeat over and over again. Indeed, like with any good recipe, if you come up with a good process, your results should keep getting better and better each time you execute it.

And of course, Tanner would get paid—month after month. He’d charted his course and set sail on a sea of recurring income.
